Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki Held Annual Executive Meeting with RUC

On March 2nd, the annual executive meeting of the Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki was held online. Renmin University of China Vice President Prof. DU Peng attended the meeting.

Participants from the University of Helsinki included: Hanna Snellman, Vice Rector and Professor of European Ethnology at the University of Helsinki; Jussi Pakkasvirta, Vice Dean and Professor at the University of Helsinki Department of Culture; Mikko Saikku, Dean and Professor at the University of Helsinki Department of Culture; Julie Chen, Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki; LI Maosen, Dean of the Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki and Professor at RUC School of Philosophy.

Prof. Snellman chaired the board meeting. Prof. CHEN first presented Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki 2020 work report and 2021 work plan, after which Mariliina Rasanen, Assistant Director of the Institute, provided an annual financial report. The Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki has actively responded to the challenge of COVID-19 by ensuring the running of various online teaching courses, examinations and lectures, and continuing to cooperate with the China Law Center of Finland in organizing a series of activities including the annual Chinese Law Study Week.

Prof. DU said in his speech that as the Chinese partner of the Confucius Institute, Renmin University of China will, as always, support Confucius Institute at Helsinki in faculties, teaching management, academic exchanges, financial management and other aspects. The signing of a new round of educational agreement between the two universities will inject new vitality into the future development of Confucius Institute at the University of Helsinki.

Both universities agreed to be the builders and supporters of the Confucius Institute and to promote the sustainable and high-quality development of the Confucius institute. Under the challenge of the global epidemic, both sides will jointly develop online teaching resources and explore collaborations in the fields of humanities, social sciences, and interdisciplinary studies.
